26.2

This is a brag post about someone who will likely never even read this...

Chris is superhuman. I think he has superpowers and is somehow able to do a million things, and do them all well. it is insane! He has been training this summer for the Detroit Marathon.  How else would you celebrate your birthday weekend, but by putting your body through a grueling race? I know..it doesn't make sense to me either, but I can still be impressed, right? So he initially just wanted to get in shape, but then he needed goals and a challenge so he set his sights on the marathon.

He is so disciplined and was getting up and running a few mornings a week before work.  The more he trained, the more he needed to run in the morning to keep on pace, so he was getting up earlier and earlier and running farther and farther.  Like waking up at 4:30 to run in the 40 degree pitch black.  I can't believe how fast he was able to reach his goals.  He would save his longer runs for the weekend and get up early Saturday morning to go run 15-20 miles, come home, mow the lawn, help me work on painting or building stuff, or whatever I wanted to do, play and wrestle with Saylie and still have time for his classes and lectures at night or his responsibilities at church to visit people and check in on them.  It is amazing what he is able to do.  i feel like a total bum compared!  He is just so awesome and we LOVE him.  He makes everything more fun by being part of it.  Say and I are pretty lucky girls!  So CONGRATS, and HAPPY late BIRTHDAY!

They finished in 4 hrs 18 min.  They totally nailed their goal of 4:20 (also, they mostly just wanted to beat Oprah!) the before pictures are a great contrast to the after pics. I am sure a burger never tasted so good.  I was a little nervous to navigate Detroit on my own with Say but it went great. Turns out Greektown is so fun and kinda charming,  we made friends along the way to the race and this sweet girl was really fun company and a great cheerleader!
