Introducing....

It finally happened.  For as quickly as I felt the pregnancy went by, the last few weeks were just like MOLASSES! I was so cranky and uncomfortable.  My feet were so swollen, My belly was so tight I thought it would rip in half, I could not sleep and the list goes on.  I am convinced that the end of pregnancy has to be kinda horrible or else why would you volunteer for labor or surgery?  I was totally ready by the time we got there.

We had all these plans laid out of how things would go the night before...nothing went according to plan. Chris picked my mom up from the airport and i put saylie to bed. then at about 2am everything came unraveled. Say woke up and could not sleep so we were up with her for a few hours. then once we fell back asleep i woke up with a low blood sugar so I had to eat before i started my fast. I pretty much never went to sleep after that.  The morning of my C-Section was totally like any other morning, which felt so bizarre! We were trying to stay calm and act normal while we killed 5 hours. It was eerily calm walking into the hospital knowing i was about to be cut in half and become a mom of 2.  As soon as my doctor (who the day before had estimated 7lb baby) made his first cut, he yells, "big baby!!" My eyes got huge and i looked at Chris and was like, "you think she's an 8 pounder?" Hahahaha they seriously had to yank her out. The doc pulled on her and two nurses were shoving down on my belly to get her out. It was intense and thank goodness for my spinal block!!! They held her up and she seriously couldn't open her eyes because there was so much skin and a forehead roll. We were dying when they weighed her and said 8lbs. 14oz. DYING!!

As babies do, Audrey changes her look everyday.  This is from the operating room. It was our first impression with our swollen, puggy little lady. (See the ridge on her nose? It was a huge forehead roll and she could barely open her eyes.  That ridge lasted about 5 days or so.)

Then a day or so later, she looked like this. Not too different, but her features started coming our as her swelling went down.

 At three days we had our glorious photo shoot (will be it's own post and worth the wait I promise!!)

and now a month out, she looks like this.  Maybe they all look the same to you guys, maybe I am crazy, but I just feel like she is a totally different baby.  Also, we decided that with her eyes open vs closed she looks like two different people.  We can't wait to see how she continues to change and settle into her permanent look.  With Saylie it took about 3 months to settle on which features came from which parent and decided what color hair she would have, etc.  Jury is still out on Audrey.  She has my chin and coloring, a version of an Allsop nose, but she has Chappell cheeks and Chris' fuller lips.  Her light eyebrows make me think she may go blonde, but the mop of hair on her head makes that a little less believable.  Either way, we're still obsessed and can't help but cover those sweet cheeks in kisses. Even Saylie gets in on the action.  They are going to be such great friends.

And so, here we are with this sweet little girl taking up every spare second.  Two is definitely different than one.  I am constantly surprised at how much and how differently i love each of them. Saylie has been just a perfect older sister and despite a lot of changes and crazy schedules, she is so sweet and gentle with Audrey. I couldn't ask for better!
